Spiritual Altered Art Shrines

 

I just wanted to share with you what I have been up to in the studio. Lots of new artwork to share with you and some wonderful sweet and special art shrines or nichos. Each shrine is made by hand with wood, embossed copper metal, they are painted sanded and aged and adorned with my own art. I add a wonderful layer of encaustic wax to the image for a lovely soft look. This particular one is entitles "Grateful" The front door has a sweet heart that has the word Grateful and the inside doors say "for the beauty that surrounds me". A Little Myth Quilt...

Last weekend I was able to have some fun playing and creating texture and this little quilt came to be. I love it when you sit down at the studio table to just play and a finished piece is born! Art happens when you least expect it! I have been working on some new journals and will be sharing those soon. I am heading out for a walk around the lake, so have a beautiful afternoon!

A Fairy Garden

Good evening everyone, I thought I would share with you a glimpse into my enchanted fairy garden! This lovely terrarium holds some fairy favorite flowers and herbs that I then dry and harvest for my own fairy goodies I create. Growing now in the garden is Vervain, Yarrow, White Sage, Rosemary, St. Johns Wort, Wild Thyme and Hollyhock! The faeries take such good care of the garden and in return I leave them sweet honey nectar, sometimes crystals or sweet cream or milk! The garden is entirely organic  from the herbs themselves to the soil. It is a special place that I love to see when I first walk into the studio in the morning!

 

I am currently finishing up a three week Fairy Garden/Herbal course that I will be offering to all of you very soon within my Faery Cottage! It has wonderful fairy information for you to enjoy including Faery Herbal Lore, Faery Gardens, Faery recipes and more! Ravens Feather Studio Blog Giveaway!

Hello Dear Ones, I am so pleased to announce that I am offering my first ever Ravens Feather Studio Blog Giveaway! I have some wonderful goodies that I would love to share with all of you! I have THREE gifts to give away, the most special one being a very beautiful old Victorian Album!  There is light pencil writing on the back page that says 1873! It is empty but has all of the lovely picture pages completely intact and the spine is still in fairly good shape as well! Days Go By....

Hello everyone, I cannot believe how long it has been since my last post, but so much has been going on and I have so much to tell all of you! My husband and I have been working on making the move up to Flagstaff Arizona and lets just say it has had its share of challenges! You all understand the housing market crisis I am sure! We tried many angles and options and there is just no way we are going to be able to sell our house at this time! We have at least 7 to 8 foreclosures on our street right now and they are all selling for over 100K less than what we purchased our house for! Just horrible! So our option is to try to rent this house, (???) and rent up in Flagstaff for a while, or just stay here and wait for a market that may or may not turn around any time soon! We just fell in love with Flagstaff, did you know they actually have four seasons!! Still cant get over that. We basically have: hot, hotter and boiling! So we are still trying to decide what to do, but we have been back and forth to Flagstaff the last two months so many times, it feels like we live there anyways!

I have also been continuing on my path of spiritual growth the last few months. As many of you who know me understands that this happens to me when I am learning. I like to completely immerse myself in the experience and feel that connection to Spirit and all that is. I have been learning about Native American healing and It has been one of the best and most spiritual experiences I have had. My heart is just filled with such gratitude and connection that I just cant put it all into words in fear that it would only water down the beauty of it all. I thank you all for the wonderful emails and posts you have left me, I am sorry If I did not have the chance to write you all back, I hope you all can forgive me!

I have also been in the studio a few times here and there and have some new creative endevers to show you very when I get them all photographed and scanned in. ALSO, I will be having my first Ravens Feather Studio Blog giveaway starting this Wednesday 29 JULY that you wont want to miss! I will have more details posted tomorrow along with pictures but I will be giving away a beautiful old vintage photo album from the late 1800s and I have a bunch of small giveaways of wonderful old actual tin photographs for you to use in your creations!! I cant wait to share them with all of you!! Please enjoy a few pictures from our Flagstaff trips too! On the last trip I got to feed the beautiful and lovely Raven named Lily and seriously just about cried!! So that is a quick update of my life the last few months, missed you all and hope you are all doing beautiful!

Around Ravens Feather Studio

 

Hello everyone, sorry it has been a little while, we had a family friend pass away and it has just been a little busy and overwhelming around here lately. Today though was so beautiful outside and a little cooler than it has been in the last weeks-cooler means in the 90's instead of 100's just as an FYI!
I thought I would snap some photos to share with all of you around Ravens Feather Studio this afternoon. I just made a wonderful, and maybe just a little splurge, on an amazing old farm house table that is painted the most beautiful shade of Robins Egg Blue! It is exactly what I had been looking for to replace my old plastic fold down craft table! I was searching and searching for a table that was wood, old and shabby, but sturdy as it would get used alot! This one is perfect because it has two fold down sides so that when I need a larger crafting space, it is available. I just love it. I had the most perfect piece of Irish pottery to place on top of it, a beautiful piece from one of our trips to Ireland to hold some paint brushes,  and a great chamber candle holder (LOVE that) that is metal and painted white.

 
These two trunks hold some wonderful vintage finds and fabrics. The medieval looking box holds various pieces of old vintage lace and the large dark wood trunk holds large remnants of heavy fabrics I love.



Some wonderful old vintage photo albums that I cannot wait to use one of them for in an upcoming project! Share with all of you that soon!

Remember...

Good morning everyone! I just wanted to share with you one of my latest mixed media pieces. I really enjoyed creating this piece and I have some more that are similar  on the way to share but they are in the process of drying.  This piece was created with a plaster technique to make it feel as if you are seeing these beautiful lovers through a stone archway. I added broken pieces of stained glass around the edges within the plaster to give it a more Gothic/Medieval feel. Twin Flame Altered Journal

The romantic pre-raphaelite style has been inspiring me as of late and last night this journal came to be. The image on the front cover is one of my favorite paintings called Paolo and Francesca by George Frederic Watts. Every time I see this picture it reminds me of another life time, it instantly brings to mind my twin soul or twin flame. The cover to the journal was created with Rose colored velvet, various vintage lace elements, a beautiful ornate vintage drawer pull, one of my favorite damask silk fabrics and various embellishments. I aged the edges of the journal as well to give it a distressed time worn feel. Enjoy and have a beautiful day.
